2 Weeks Into My New Life

Hi everyone,

Leopold here!! I have been living at my new forever home for 2 weeks now. I have been so busy meeting all the neighbors and smelling, sniffing, and exploring everything.
It was a long ride home from Michigan to Maryland, but we stopped by my new Grandma's house along the way and she gave Lucy and me a big cookie (yummy)! The picture below is Lucy and me in the car together. I slept most of the way home.

My new house is great. Mom and Dad were a little worried about me being able to climb the stairs and thought they'd have to carry me up and down them. We got home and Lucy bolted up the stairs. I just followed after her, then I realized I don't know how to go down them. Dad has since taught me how to successfully go up and down the stairs all on my own.

I really love my new mom and dad and sister Lucy. We go for lots of walks and bird hunting adventures. Here's a couple pictures of me on the trail and with my mom (dad likes to take all the pictures).

I also wanted to share pictures of me on my love seat. Sometimes, I allow Lucy to have some room on it, but mostly I hog the whole thing.

Oh, and I have a special friend too! Her name is Nancy and she comes and takes me for walks everyday and loves me a lot. She is great! She is so proud to be walking two beautiful Weimaraners around the neighborhood.

Thanks again to everyone for all the prayers and well-wishes along my journey for a better life!

Wow! I am now 6 weeks into my recovery. I have recovered fully from my kennel cough bout and only managed to spread it to 2 of the other dogs in the house and 1 of my cousins (Oops!!). My hair is starting to really fill in now and I think in another week or two, I might not have any bald spots left. I think that everyone's prayers and the great vet care that I received have helped me get through this difficult time.

Some of you may have noticed that I have a very exciting addition next to my name on the GLWR website that says "Adoption Pending." My foster mom says that good things come to those who wait and I think I have been patiently waiting for a new family. In a week and a half, I will be traveling with my foster mom to Michigan to meet my new family and sister Lucy. They are traveling over 600 miles to meet me. I can't wait! My foster mom shows me pictures and tells me all about them.

I will sure be missed by my foster parents. They say that I am one of the most charismatic, loving, brave, and sweetest dogs that they have ever met. I will miss them too, but they reassure me that I'm getting the opportunity to start over and have a better life.

I'll update everyone again after I meet my new family!

With love and kisses,

Leo

I got the stuffed animal now!

Posing for the camera
Whew...what a week! I'm finally able to go out and run! My foster parents took me to the dog park this week and to my foster grandma's house to run and play. I thought we were just there to chase birds though. I had so much fun playing and seeing all the other dogs. I really like birds though. I had one on point through the bathroom window the other day. I would have got him too if I had been outside.

So here's the bad news from this week: I have kennel cough now. Mom says I should be fine in a couple days but I'm sick of coughing. No more playing for me for over a week.

My foster parents say I'm the calmest Weimaraner they've ever met. I'm a little shy around strangers but am starting to get used to new people coming over. I am just so full of love and want to cuddle all day long.

Thanks for everyone's get well wishes! I'm doing great!

Hey everyone!

I'm just over 3 weeks past my surgery. I am doing fabulous! I'm quite an animated character. I just love my foster parents and get so excited when they come home! I like to mouth a lot. I still need to be careful because I fell today and landed on my ouie. I cried for a little while, but then was okay. I'm running around the yard like crazy and love to lay in the sun chewing on bones. I went to the vet today to get some vaccinations and the vet said I was doing great. I didn't want to leave mom's side while we were there though...I thought she was going to leave me there. I layed in her lap when I got my toenails trimmed. I was super excited when I got to go with her when we were done. Everyone I've met says that I have a heart of gold. My foster parents say that I am the biggest couch potato that they've ever met! I needs lots of beauty sleep to keep up these good looks.

Hey everyone! I am now 2 weeks post-op today! Yeah! I am doing fantastic. My incisions look fabulous and I am healing great. I am now getting to go out with the other dogs and sniff the yard. I am running and jumping and playing. I am so mellow and listen well. I try to eat dirt and sticks in the yard, but when I hear "No, no Leo" I stop. I even have great recall. I really am a good boy and will make someone very lucky. My foster parents think that I should be ready to be adopted in a week or two. How great is that! They finally gave up on trying to crate me (haha) and I am perfectly content free-roaming when they're gone. My favorite past-time is lying on the couch and cuddling! Keep checking up on me!
